Gopal Jiu Publications News June 2004
Hare Krishna. Please accept our humble obeisances. Jaya Sri Sri Guru Gauranga! We hope that all is well for your bhajan and your service.
We're ten years old now! At this juncture, we thought it appropriate to look at how far we have come in this service by the mercy of Sri Guru, Gauranga and the vaishnavas. More than 35,000 books and magazines and about 100,000 email magazines have gone out to the English language audience, and in other languages, such as Russian, many more thousands. Here's some other news:
NEW PUBLICATIONS
Sri
Krishna Kathamrita #7
Lord Shiva The Greatest Vaishnava
The stunning artwork, photographs, articles and stories in this most recent issue of Krishna Kathamrita have brought a lot of excitement to the devotee community. One devotee in Bombay purchased 50 copies just to give as gifts to his friends. We printed 3,000 copies in January, and already more than 1,000 have been distributed.
Some comments:
"I read the magazine on Lord Shiva from cover to cover and found it quite informative and very enlightening. I really enjoyed it. I am going to give it to a friend of ours who is from a Saivite family, I think it will help him to understand the union between Lord Krishna and His great devotee Lord Shiva much more. I am presently reading the Bindu compilation and it is great. I really can't read it on the net so I am very happy to see it in this format. The short pieces make it easy to read and everything is simply fixed on Krishna. It is a balm for the soul. Thank you for being so diligent about keeping this magazine going. It is excellent."
-- Laxmimoni dasi, Alachua Florida
"Thank you for the Krishna Kathamrita magazines- WOW! Such first class assemblage of nectar! So artful and resourceful and definite food for the soul."
-- Bhakta Steve Ritz, Baldwin City, Kansas.
"Thank you millions and millions of times for sending the compilations of the Bindus plus the magazine about Lord Shiva. For years I have wondered why Shiva had a crescent moon on his head and I was so happy to read the story. Your publications are both beautiful and enlivening."
-- Urmila devi dasi
Sri Krishna Kathamrita Bindu Book #2
This is the second compilation of KK Bindus. It contains issues 18 to 41. This is a limited edition, only 500 copies were printed. We are now down to 201 copies since it was released in March.
His Holiness Sacinandana Swami recently wrote to us:
"These compilations of the Bindu are very necessary and good publications. I always have either compilation number 1 or compilation number 2 with me and read even when I am in the midst of a busy preaching schedule. Just to catch a few drops keeps me inspired and connected with the transcendental plane."
THREE
LOGS OF WOOD
The Amazing Story of the First Ratha-Yatra
2,000 copies of this popular story excerpted from "The Embankment of Separation" were printed in March in the form of a small inexpensive booklet. It is especially designed for mass distribution at Ratha-yatra festivals all over the world. Since its printing, our stock is down to 646 copies. This booklet also contains the new version of the life story of Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami as printed in "Mathura Meets Vrindavan".
Mathura Meets Vrindavan
"Mathura Meets Vrindavan" has been very well received and sales have been good. We originally printed 3,000 copies and in the first year, our stock is now down to 1,908.
We have been getting rave reviews from devotees around the world. [To read appreciations Click here]
Reprints
2,000
copies each of two of our most popular books -- "Embankment of Separation"
and "Gopal Jiu The Beloved Deity of "Srila Gour Govinda Swami",
were checked again for mistakes and reprinted. We were very pleased with the
high quality of our new printer, Samrat Press in Delhi.
KK Bindu
We are now in our fourth year of publication of our free email magazine Sri Krishna Kathamarita Bindu. By Krishna's grace, in that time, we have not had any serious computer problems and Bindu has steadily come out every ekadasi. The subscriber list is growing steadily, and is now up to about 1,600 persons. Some of these we know get redistributed to mailing lists and get posted on bulletin boards, so the total number of readers may be much higher.
Upcoming
Work is now going on for our next publication, Sri Krishna Kathamrita #8, part two of "Lord Shiva, the Greatest Vaishnava". We also intend to print a third compilation of Bindus, a softbound edition of "Mathura Meets Vrindavan" and a reprint of "Pariprasna, the Process of Inquiry". Lectures of Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami are now being collected and transcribed for several future books including one on Srila Prabhupada, and another on the Grhastha asrama.
Special Award
During this year's Gaura Purnima Festival, we received the Global Excellence Award 2004 from the ISKCON GBC for "Literary Contribution".
Bhaktivedanta Vedabase
